Dunker Church, Sunday Morning

This is the Dunker Church on the Antietam Battlefield. The Church was scene of heavy fighting by the Union forces on the Confederacy and had the battle scars to prove it. Used as a Confederate medical aid station and later by the Union. By the end of the century the congregation had moved to town (Sharpesburg, MD) and the church eventually fell to disrepair and blew down during a storm in 1921. In 1960 the National Parks Service rebuilt the church as it was on September 17, 1862. This picture was taken last Sunday at sunrise.
