South Newton & Penn Townships Fire Companies, old stations

Old School doesn't always mean old. Take for instance the South Newton Township Volunteer Fire Company and the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company (Cumberland County Company 49 and 50, respectively). The SNTVFC, in Walnut Bottom, PA, was formed in June of 1966 as an annex (Station 2) of the Vigilant Hose Company in Shippensburg, In May of 1976 they separated to become independent. Their first station was in this old block building and shared with the local Lions Club. The new station is located next door. PTVFC, in Huntsdale, PA, started in the building on Pine Road, before moving west of the village into their new station. The old station is now the Southcentral Region Office of the PA Fish and Boat Commission.
