Asseteague Birds, December 2008

Today we just have a weekend bird post. All pictures from our Christmas at the beach last year. While driving around the Wildlife Loop some couple flagged us over to tell us the Bald Eagle was out along the Snow Goose Pool. We rushed back and it was perched a couple hundred yards away and I didn't think to grab the tripod, but I was able to rest my elbows and get a decent picture. Picture no. 2 is a Sanderling. He seemed to follow us for a while on our last morning beach walk. Sanderlings are the little birds that run away from the incoming waves and then follow it back down looking for sand crabs. Three is a half decent shot of some Buffleheads the decided I was too close. And finally there is a Great Blue Heron who thinks he is hiding. Enjoy.
