The Barn with the Star

Here it is the famous Star Barn of South Central Pennsylvania. Built in 1868 for banker/farmer John Motter it sports the star shaped louvers on all four sides. Some of the outbuildings also have the star. The barn sits along Route 283 (you can almost see it in the background) between the PA Turnpike exit and the Harrisburg Airport exit. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places the barn was sold last December along with the outbuildings will be moved to another Central Penn location to become part of an agricultural museum type display.

Hey,

Just wanted to say I've been checking out your blog since Brad mentioned it and I like it. Especially some of the old school fire photos..

Stay Safe,

Woody

haney, thanks for the history you bring to your photos. I can see it can be very time consuming to do your post.
I always thought the star barn and outbuildins were really neat. As a farm kid I could look at pictures of old barns all day ( and fire trucks)
