This weeks old school firehouse is the Pleasant View Fire Company No. 16 in Harrisburg, PA. Pleasant View was one of the last volunteer departments to organize in Harrisburg and this station closed in 1970 when Engine 16 was transferred to the Shamrock firehouse. There are no longer any active members. This old station sits on the corner of State Street and North Parkway Drive. The awning says "20/20" or "Twenty/Twenty", I don't know if that's some kind of club or what but nothing seemed to active here anymore. Maybe our HFD friends can answer this one.

Two quick notes about the "PV" as we called it. The house was not closed until January 27, 1978. In 1970, the HFD flip-flopped Engine 16 with Squad 1, then running from the Shamrock No. 11 at 15th & Herr St. Squad 1 had just put in service a large Mack rescue truck and the Shamrock's doors were a bit narrow for comfort so the Pleasant View became the companies new house until the above date. Early that morning, part of the concrete ceiling in the basement kitchen crashed down, nearly killing one of the Squad members, exposing the badly rusting I-beams holding the concrete apparatus room floor and the city engineer promptly closed the house. It was never fixed. I worked on Squad 1 at the time and worked the night it happened. Great old firehouse, lotta fond memories I write about in my books. The 2020 is the address. Although when it was a firehouse the address was 2016. Dave Houseal, Harrisburg Fireman (retired)
This building is now the home of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, Kappa Omega Chapter. We bought the building in 1983. We expanded it in 1997.
2020 Is the address of the building and the name of the catering club we run out of it.
