Hope Fire Co. #2, Harrisburg

O.K., lets start the whirlwind tour of old fire stations. Lets start at the beginning. Harrisburg at one time or another had 16 volunteer fire companies operating within the city. Company 1 was the Friendship Engine Company and it was located on Chestnut Street at the corner of Third Street. It was closed in 1937 and sold to the Chestnut Street Market Company. This station no longer exists. That take us to the Hope Fire Company 2. Hope sits at 606 North Second Street. Although the Hope station closed in 1980, the building lives on as the Fire House Bar and Restaurant. It's nice to see it is being preserved so well.
