Green Grove Gardens Balloonfest 2010

Theme week. Balloonfest. Saturday evening found us between Greencsatle and Shady Grove, Pa. I had heard about this Balloonfest and said, "Yep, I'm there." It was like nothing I anticipated. We walked in, looked around and set our chairs up for the evening. Just sat them in the grass along the brush line. With overcast skies and an on and off wind the launch was pushed back until a little after 7pm. But all at once they started pulling balloons from the backs of vans and trailers, hooking up burners to baskets and firing up the big fans. All of this was going on 20 feet from our chairs. While inflating the one some people had to move their chairs because the balloons were pushing them aside. I had assumed there would be some cordoned off field and everyone would gather around and watch from the perimeter. No, they fired the burners and you felt most of the 4 million BTUs. After a while they drove the balloons back and set up again for the balloon glow at about 9pm. Wow. I can't wait to go to another fest, this was fun to watch.

Why weren't you at the fair? This sounds better. I have never heard of this, but would like to see sometime.
