While leaving Harrisburg Last weekend we travrled up Route 11/15 along the West Shore of the Susquhanna River and like in many of my stories I looked down in the Village of West Fairview and said outloud, "That's an old firehouse." U turn. This building sits on Third Street at Mullberry Street. The following is from the website of the Good Will Fire Company, Cumberland County, Pa. Company 16;
"In 1912, a tract of land was purchased from Sarah Heck at a cost of $350.00. This land was located on Third Street between Clay and Lincoln Streets. The same year ground was broken and a cement foundation was laid. The building was not completed until 1915, when it was dedicated in connection with old home week. The building was erected by Ira Shaull, who drew up the plans for the building." in 1967 a new station was planned and was dedicated to the late Fir Chief in Sptember of 1968. The building now has a sign on it for Charles E. Kisner Plumbing but personally the place looked deserted.

Haney, I photographed the same building (and there present station) just last September. You know there is some other old fire stations left standing in the county also, maybe it should be a Sunday morning road trip sometime.

That sounds like a plan. I've been by Camp Hill's but it won't see sun on the front until spring. There more over in the city also.

Many more in the city off the top of my head eight plus the present four. And in Cumberland there is still three in New Cumberland, to old 33, 31, 29 houses and more heading into Carlisle. We could start in the city and end in Shippensburg. Then for fun we could pick another day and start in Southern Franklin County and work back to Shippensburg. I have been trying to get them all to start a series on the fire blog of all the Cumberland/Franklin stations and a brief history.

You are right and the color with cream was red just like the Vigilant's. Okay, I will bite, do you own a Seagrave? You are one of the few that I don't know, but I think I do.
